Introduction

The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program in Library and Information Science (LIS) is an advanced academic program designed for students who seek to deepen their understanding of the theory, research, and practice of information management in a rapidly evolving digital age.

Objectives

  • To provide students with an advanced understanding of the theoretical foundations, research methodologies, and emerging trends in library and information science, enabling them to engage critically with scholarly literature and contribute to the advancement of the field.
  • To develop advanced research skills, including the ability to formulate research questions, design research methodologies, collect and analyze data, and interpret research findings, culminating in the completion of a thesis or dissertation that contributes new knowledge to the field.
  • To specialize in specific areas of interest within library and information science, such as information organization, digital libraries, archival studies, metadata management, knowledge management, or information policy, fostering depth of knowledge and expertise.
